Penn College Wrestlers Continue to Impress

Wrestling once again was the lone bright spot for the Pennsylvania College of Technology last week as the college's basketball teams continued in their rebuilding seasons.

Flashback WrestlingDerek Leiby, of Troy (149) and Paul Crutchlow, of Morris Plains, N.J., both scored falls as the Wildcats rolled over Penn State Mont Alto, 40-6, on Saturday to improve to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Men's BasketballThe Wildcats suffered their fifth-straight loss, 93-49, to Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday night. Scott Fenton, of Dickson City, led Penn College scorers with 15 points and Ethan Kline, of Bellefonte, was tops in rebounds with 10.

Returning to PSUAC action Saturday, despite hitting just 19 of 40 free throws, Penn College battled tough in a 75-70 double-overtime loss at Penn State Greater Allegheny. Fenton poured in a personal season-high 24 points while Colton Acorn, of Wellsboro, scored 15 points and hauled in 12 rebounds and Kline added 16 points as the team fell to 1-13 overall and 1-5 in the conference.Women's BasketballOn Tuesday, Penn College fell behind NCAA Division III Elmira, N.Y., College by 30 points at the half and ended up losing 83-31. Kierstin Steer, of South Williamsport, led the Wildcats with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Turnovers plagued Penn College throughout the game as it gave the ball away 39 times on the night.

Thursday at Lehigh Carbon Community College, the Wildcats fell, 59-52, and, on Saturday at Penn State Greater Allegheny, Steer scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in an 81-46 loss. Dana Reed, of Sunbury, and Niesha Williams, of Loyalsock Township, added 12 points each. The Wildcats now drop to 1-13 overall and 1-5 in the PSUAC.
