College Presents Humanitarian/Citizenship Award to Alumnus

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented Brian M. Webster with an Alumni Humanitarian/Citizenship Award during a Winter Commencement ceremony at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport.
The award is bestowed upon graduates of Penn College or its predecessor institutions, Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute, who have provided distinguished community or volunteer service and presented themselves as dedicated and loyal alumni.
Webster was awarded an associate degree in nursing from Penn College in 2006 and received the Shirley Novosel Memorial Award for clinical excellence and client advocacy that same year.
He is employed as a registered nurse clinical supervisor for the Susquehanna Health Emergency Department; he also served as a registered nurse in invasive cardiology for Susquehanna Health. In 2010, Webster received the health system's Above Clinical Excellence (ACE) for Nurse Supervisor or Manager honor.
Webster has participated in five medical-relief trips to earthquake-ravaged Haiti since January 2010. He also serves as editor of The Humanitarian Group, a website advocating for the medically underserved living in areas of the world that have been affected by natural disasters or lack of resources.
A candidate for a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Frontier Nursing University, Webster is a fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and serves as a wilderness medicine instructor and lecturer for the Appalachian Center for Wilderness Medicine.
His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Emergency Nurses Association and the Wilderness Medical Society.
Webster served in the U.S. Navy from 1992-95 and in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1995-98.
