Did you meet your "sweetheart" at Pennsylvania College of Technology or its predecessors: Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute?
As the college continues its Countdown to the Centennial, the Alumni Relations Office invites alumni couples to share their love stories. One couple will win a special Sweethearts' Weekend just in time for Valentine's Day.
"We'd love to hear how couples met at the college, what their lives were like on campus at that time, and what they're doing now," said Becky J. Shaner, alumni relations assistant, who notes that her office is aware of more than 500 alumni couples.
Winners of the Sweethearts' Contest will be treated to dinner in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant and overnight accommodations at the college's Victorian House on Saturday, Feb. 11, followed by brunch in the restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 12.
Alumni couples can submit their love stories via email . The deadline is Jan. 7.
Couples are also invited to visit the Alumni Relations website to view the story of Marian Stoddart Ryan ('68, secretarial) and John Ryan ('68, civil technology), of Montoursville.
The Ryans recently shared with Alumni Relations the story of how they met on campus in the spring of 1968. The conversation was generated after a photograph of the couple was featured in the college's retrospective booklet, "Were You There? The Evolution of a College Campus." The publication includes a photograph of the couple at the 1968 Spring Weekend dance.
The college will mark its centennial in 2014 the 100th anniversary of adult-education classes on the site of the college campus in Williamsport.
