A Veterans Day recognition ceremony was held during Saturday's basketball game between the Lady Wildcats and The Apprentice School. John C. Carlson, a Penn College alumnus and 22-year Navy veteran, served as master of ceremonies for the halftime observance in Bardo Gym.
All active-duty and retired servicemen and women, as well as reservists and members of the National Guard, stood for acknowledgement in "fighting the good fight for our freedom." The ceremony, sponsored by the college's Financial Aid Office, also included a moment of silence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Penn College Athletics T-shirts were given to all veterans in attendance, and there were also giveaways of key chains and American flags for all fans.
