The Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletic Department has named Tony White interim head coach for the men's basketball program for the 2011-12 season. White takes over for former head coach Gene Bruno, who stepped down earlier this month. White has been the assistant for the Wildcats since 2009.
A Williamsport native, White played basketball at Williamsport Area High School, where he led the Millionaires in assists and 3-point shooting. During his time there, the team made it to the state quarterfinals. After graduating in 2003, he attended Misericordia University, where he was a two-year letterman. He then transferred to Thiel College and played his final two years.
After graduating from college, White immediately started working on a graduate degree at West Chester University. During that time, he worked as a graduate assistant with the women's basketball squad. In addition to his coaching position at Penn College, White works for the Keystone State Basketball camps.
White will be assisted this season by his older brother, Pete Jr. Pete is a graduate and former basketball standout at both WAHS and Yale University.
The Wildcats begin their season at 8 p.m. Nov. 10, when they host Central Penn College in Bardo Gym.
