Students' Instruction Broadened Through Living-Learning Community

Sandra Gorka, associate professor of computer science, helps information technology students expand their knowledge IT students get a head start on UNIX/Linux requirementThe Information Technology Living-Learning Community in Dauphin Hall hosted a Wednesday program on virtualization, presented by Sandra Gorka, associate professor of computer science. Students installed the Linux operating system onto a virtual drive of their personal computers using Oracle's VirtualBox software. The program was geared toward preparing students for a UNIX/Linux course they are required to take in the School of Business and Computer Technologies. The Residence Life Office offers a number of living-learning communities on campus, bringing outside-the-classroom opportunities to students enrolled in the same academic majors.Photos by Matthew C.
