Graduating Lady Wildcats in Volleyball, Soccer Honored

Pennsylvania College of Technology honored senior members of the Wildcat women's volleyball and soccer teams this past weekend.

Women's Volleyball On Saturday, Oct. 15, the women's volleyball team honored its two graduating seniors Paula Karine Monteiro and Lyndsey Smith with a ceremony preceding the team's match with Penn State York.



Head coach Bambi Hawkins offered her kindest and most memorable remarks on the duo with personal stories about dance games and raffles, as well as the two student-athletes' great play throughout their careers.

Monteiro, a business management major from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, has been a member of the squad for two years. This year, she has racked up an impressive 46 kills, 28 aces and 118 digs.

Smith, a health information management major from Mechanicsburg, is a four-year member for the team. This year, she leads the team and is ranked ninth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association in assists with 546.

The Wildcats' play this season has earned them a berth in the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs as the No. 2 seed. They will take on Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in Rec Hall on the University Park campus of Penn State.

Women's Soccer On Sunday, Oct. 16, the two graduating seniors on the women's soccer team Lauren Hammer and Brandy Krause were honored with a ceremony preceding the team's game with Penn State Beaver.

Hammer, a baking and pastry arts major from Center Valley, is in her first and last season for the Wildcats. In nine starts this season, Hammer has notched a goal. Off the field, she also is a member of the Penn College Diners Club.

Krause, a radiography major from Pine Grove, is a three-year member of the squad and is this year's team captain. She has earned both PSUAC and USCAA All-Academic Team honors in her tenure. In addition, she is a member of the Penn College Dance Team and Phi Theta Kappa, and is president of the Medical Imaging Club.

The Wildcats next take on Washington Adventist University at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.
