Ashley M. Stuck, an applied human services major from Lewistown, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's first Student of the Month for the Fall 2011 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
"Student leader, strong commitment to academics and extracurricular activities, helps others, leadership skills, great attitude, always willing to help," a faculty member summarized in recommending Stuck for selection.
This month's honoree served as executive vice president of SGA in 2010-11 and was elected president of the Human Services Club for the current academic year. She serves as a mentor for new students in her major, has volunteered in a variety of off-campus community service activities, has served on committees in the college's internal Governance system, has been an Open House volunteer at the college and assisted the summerlong Connections orientation program.
Additionally, she is the most recent recipient of the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship, established by SGA specifically to honor campus leadership.
The associationregularly recognizes students on the basis of commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Faculty/staff and students are strongly encouraged to submit nominations for future Student of the Month honors; watch the myPCT portal for upcoming deadlines.
