Tuesday, September 13, 2011
A staff member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Office of Career Services and a part-time faculty member have attained the Global Career Development Facilitator designation from the Center for Credentialing and Education.
Erin S. Shultz, coordinator of career development, and Danielle M. Liddic, an adjunct faculty member in the college's First Year Experience initiative (and Career Services' former nontraditional support/career development specialist), were certified on the basis of a recent 120-hour course through The Pennsylvania State University.
They received intensive training in a variety of areas, including career-development theories and applications, career-counseling methods, career assessments and inventories, and completion of an in-depth case study. Among the benefits of the designation are increased skills and knowledge to assist others in planning careers and obtaining meaningful employment.
Shultz is a 2005 technology management graduate of Penn College. She joined the college as a staff member in 2000 and, in 2007, assumed her present position. She is pursuing a master's degree in education: teaching and learning from Lock Haven University.
Liddic, who earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Penn State, is working toward a master's degree there in workforce education and development. She joined the college staff in 2007 as coordinator of New Choices/New Options in Career Services and, earlier this year, began teaching First Year Experience classes as a part-time faculty member.
