College Names Directors of Physician Assistant, Surgical Technology

The School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently appointed directors for its surgical technology and physician assistant programs.
Scott A. Geist was named director of the surgical technology program. He comes to Penn College with more than 20 years of surgical technology experience. Following a long career in the Navy, Geist was, most recently, surgical technology program director at Concorde Career College, Memphis, Tenn.
He graduated with a certificate in surgical technology in 1991 from the Naval School of Health Sciences and began working at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va., where he received national certification as a surgical technologist. He worked as an administrator at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in North Carolina from 2002 until his retirement.
Geist is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Belhaven University. He holds a bachelor's degree in health care services from the University of Phoenix and an associate degree in general studies from Central Texas Community College.
Sarah W. Worman joins the staff as director of the physician assistant program. Worman brings a variety of experience, most recently as a research interviewer for the New England Research Institute. In the educational setting, she was interim clinical coordinator, as well as clinical preceptor and academic coordinator, for the physician assistant program at Cuyahoga Community College, Parma, Ohio.
She has practiced as a physician assistant in primary care, cardiology and cardiothoracic specialties in Ohio and Minnesota and has 10 years of surgical experience as a first assistant.
Worman is pursuing a master's degree in medical informatics at Northwestern University. She holds an associate degree in surgical physician assistant from Cuyahoga Community College and a bachelor's degree in education, with a math and science specialization, from the University of Dayton. She completed graduate courses in anatomy at Wright State University School of Medicine, Dayton, Ohio.
