New Staff Member for Diversity, Cultural Life Begins at College

Dementro "Debo" Powell has begun work as the assistant director of student activities for diversity and cultural life at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

"Debo has made an excellent addition to our Student Activities staff,"said Kimberly R. Cassel, director of student activities. "We are thrilled at the experience and knowledge that he is bringing to this position and to the college. He has already begun work on many new programs for the fall, and I look forward to the education and support that he will afford our students."

Dementro PowellPowell joins the college after six years at Portland (Ore.) State University in a variety of positions in residence life, judicial affairs and multicultural/diversity programs. Prior to that, he worked at Slippery Rock University, where he also earned a bachelor's degree in special education and a master's degree in student personnel.

"Penn College has a strong history of providing diversity-related programs and experiences," said Elliott Strickland, chief student affairs officer. "We are very excited to have Debo's experience and expertise to expand on and improve these initiatives."
