Penn College Economics Professor Takes Part in State Conference

Abdul B. PathanA professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently participated in a variety of proceedings during the Pennsylvania Economic Association's annual conference at Dickinson College in Carlisle.

Abdul B. Pathan, a faculty member in Penn College's School of Integrated Studies, chaired a panel on "Economic Education" at the June 2-4 conference, including a discussion of lecture preparation and assessment of student learning. He also presented a paper titled "Effective Ways of Evaluating Economics Teaching and Learning to Undergraduate Students," and he served as a discussant for "Tariffs and Outsourcing" and how those topics could be taught to students via the experiential learning method.

Pathan holds a doctorate from the University of Houston and master's degrees from Williams College in Massachusetts and Dhaka University in India.

The PEA is a professional association of economists and allied social scientists in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. Approximately 70 papers are presented and discussed at its annual conference, which attracts economists not only from Pennsylvania and surrounding states, but also from other countries. In addition, noted economists from business, government, academia and the Federal Reserve System address conference sessions.
