Students, Faculty Participate in National Alpha Chi Convention

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students and a faculty sponsor represented the institution's Pennsylvania Xi chapter of Alpha Chi, the national college honor society for students seeking baccalaureate degrees, at its recent national convention.

Amy S. Dibble, of Montoursville, and Nathan A. Hyde, of Jersey Shore seniors majoring in business administration: banking and finance concentration both presented papers at the convention, which was held March 31 to April 2 in San Diego.

Chapter President Dibble explained "The Strategic Management Process," and Hyde offered his perspective on "How to Make Money." Dibble additionally was the chapter's student voting delegate and received the Edward L. Davis Award for outstanding service to her chapter.

Also attending was Gerald D. "Chip" Baumgardner, associate professor of business administration, the chapter's voting faculty delegate. He also served as a judge for the student presentations in economics and was part of a delegation that traveled to a local elementary school to share in the Reading Is Fundamental program.

The convention, attended by about 450 people, featured scholarly, creative and artistic presentations by more than 260 students. Alpha Chi has some 300 chapters in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Members comprise the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and graduate students in all academic fields.
