Wednesday, March 30, 2011
A "No Child Left Inside" workshop, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators, will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Penn College's Schneebeli Earth Science Center. The program will include outdoor activities that teachers can take back to their home schools, courtesy of such presenters as Jack E. Fisher, forestry instructor at the college; the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission; and the PAEE. The keynote speaker will be Jane Kirkland, the award-winning author of the "Take a Walk" series of children's nature books. She also will address a free related program encouraging outdoor fun as a family venture at James V. Brown Library at 7 p.m. Friday. Debra A. Buckman, assistant professor of environmental technology at Penn College, is director of the PAEE's North Central Region. For more, visit the PAEE website.
