That was the result of college athletic teams last week, as all 14 scheduled games six in baseball and eight in softball were postponed due to snow and cold temperatures. But that doesn't mean nothing happened.

Baseball Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the period ending March 19. Gingrich hit .417 (5 for 12) as the team went 5-1. In addition, he had 10 runs batted in and hit two home runs. His slugging percentage was 1.000 and he had a .650 on-base percentage. In the most recent United States Collegiate Athletic Association Coaches' Poll, Penn College cracked the Top 25 at No. 15 after being unranked.

Softball Amanda Baney (Williamsport) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period of March 13-19. Baney led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week hitting .571 (4 for 7) with two home runs and six runs batted in. She had a slugging percentage of 1.429 and an on-base percentage of .625. Penn College is ranked No. 12 nationally in the first USCAA Coaches' Poll.

On the Run Penn College cross-country coach Mike Paulhamus reports that two members of his team, Travis Cain and volunteer coach Jeff Faherty, along with former Wildcat Mike Womelsdorf, will compete April 18 in the Boston Marathon.

Archery Junior Danny Wido will be featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of the March 31 issue of Sports Illustrated. Wido, of Shickshinny, is a two-time national collegiate men's compound champion and, in September, represented the college at the World University Archery Championships in Shenzhen, China, where he won a team gold medal and an individual silver medal.
