A lunchtime artist's talk and evening reception opened an automotive-inspired exhibit of sculptures and paintings by Jeff Mann that combine environmental and aesthetic sensibilities. From the zigzag pattern of tire treads to the romance found in rusted and reused vehicle parts car-seat springs, door panels and wiper-motor mounts, among them "Auto Response" both celebrates and cautions against America's ubiquitous mechanical landscape. The show, in the Madigan Library's third-floor gallery through March 4, is open from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
