Penn College to Offer Free FAFSA Completion Sessions

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer free sessions on the main campus in Williamsport in February and March to help students, prospective students and families understand how to complete the 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Both sessions will be held in the Advisement Center on the first floor of Penn College's Student and Administrative Services Center.

The first session will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. After an initial presentation by Financial Aid Office staff, attendees will be invited to complete and submit their 2011-12 FAFSAs using the center's computers before the session ends at 12:30 p.m.

The second session will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. Financial Aid Office staff will assist attendees with the online FAFSA completion process.

The FAFSA is required by colleges and universities to determine if students are eligible for scholarships, federal and state grants, and student and parent loans. The primary goal of the sessions is to assist individuals and families in completing the FAFSA application accurately so that funds can be made available to students pursuing higher education. Parents and students attending any college or university are invited to receive this free assistance.

All attendees who plan to submit a FAFSA during a session should bring copies of their 2010 financial documents including federal tax returns, W-2 forms and untaxed income statements, as well as amounts for their current assets. Students who are 23 or younger should attend with a parent or guardian.

Registration is required for the FAFSA completion sessions. For more information or to preregister for either event contact the Financial Aid Office at 570-327-4766 or by e-mail , or visit the office's website .
