Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a Distinguished Alumni Awardon Saturdayto Dr. Angela S. Lutz, who practices dentistry at the Children's Dental Centre of York.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to graduates of Penn College (or predecessor institutions Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute) who have made significant contributions in their chosen fields, demonstrated the importance of their education at the college, participated in leadership roles within the community, and demonstrated a commitment to the college and community relations.
Lutz received a degree in dental hygiene from Penn College in 1993. Later, she received a doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She continued her education at the York Hospital, completing a one-year general practice residency, and then returned to the University of Pittsburgh for her pediatric residency.
She holds membership in the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Pennsylvania Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society and the York County Dental Society, for which she served as president and vice president. She is certified as a Diplomat in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Lutz has been honored with the Harrisburg Top Dentist Award, the International College of Dentists Award, the American Society of Dentistry for Children Award and the American Association of Women Dentists Award. She also received numerous awards and scholarships during her education.
Outside of work, Lutz has worked with Head Start Dental Screenings and volunteered with Special Olympics and Meals on Wheels. She also has coached elementary and varsity girls basketball.
