Penn College North Campus to Offer Class on Edible Wild Plants

Friday, May 14, 2010

Fields and forests provide an abundance of edible plants and fruits. For those wishing to learn how to distinguish edible wild plants from those that should not be eaten, a one-of-a-kind class will be offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro.

Two sections of the four-hour noncredit class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, and Saturday, June 19. The cost is $29.

Instructor Bibi Snelderwaard will hold the class at her home near Liberty. She'll demonstrate for participants how to grow and harvest plants that they will enjoy.

The class includes a short hike near a creek to identify plants, with a return to the kitchen to discover recipes and methods of preparation for healthy meals and beverages.
