Informal 'Remembrance' Set for Late Faculty Member

Thursday, April 8, 2010

The family of the late Joseph G. Mark, a 25-year faculty member at Williamsport Area Community College and Penn College, invites the campus community to casually gather later this month for a celebration of his life. Mark, who died in February at the age of 76, taught from 1971 until his retirement as an associate professor of architectural technology in 1996. The Joseph G. Mark Scholarship, awarded each fall to a promising Penn College architecture student, was established during his tenure. Born in Philadelphia, Mark earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from The Pennsylvania State University and, after serving two years in the Navy, joined a Williamsport architectural firm. He formed his own firm when that business closed, designing various buildings and home additions. He was a 45-year member and coach at the Williamsport Tennis Club, 2405 Reed St., where the remembrance will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24.
