Terry A. Girdon, professor of management and business administration department head at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected to a three-year term on the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education Board of Directors.
Girdon's election to the board, the body responsible for the general oversight of IACBE affairs, was held during the organization's annual conference in Newport, R.I., from March 23-26. He will serve as vice chair of the board during the first year, as chair during the second, and as past chair during the third year.
A highlight of the conference was the opportunity to interact with Jack Welch, who was recognized as the IACBE Business Leader of the Year. Welch served as the chairman and chief executive officer of the General Electric Co. from 1981 to 2001, during which time GE grew to become the most valuable enterprise on earth with a high market value of more than $598 billion in 1998.
From its founding in 1997, the assembly one of three business-degree accrediting bodies for colleges and universities worldwide has grown to more than 200 members in the United States and throughout the world.
All of the business and accounting degree programs at Penn College have been fully accredited by the IACBE since 1998.
Girdon holds a doctorate from Rutgers University, master's degrees from St. Lawrence University and Boston University, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
