A recent donation from ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance's Norristown office, part of the California-based ValleyCrest Landscape Companies, will benefit students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Ornamental Horticulture Program.
The $500 check was presented by Fred Barberra, a designer/estimator with the Norristown office, and Pat McVicker, a regional recruiter for the company. This is the third year that ValleyCrest has made a contribution, for a total of $2,250 in donations.
ValleyCrest also was represented at the recent Career Fair in the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood, talking with students about summer internships and full-time employment opportunities in landscape technology: turfgrass emphasis; ornamental horticulture: landscape technology emphasis; and ornamental horticulture: plant production emphasis.
The donation is just one example of the ongoing collaboration between the employer and Penn College's horticulture program. Students visited ValleyCrest on a field trip last year, and company representatives have visited campus to make presentations, most recently on March 19 to help computer landscape design students use DYNAscape landscape software.
"We truly value the relationship we have with ValleyCrest, and we appreciate the support that they continue to show," said horticulture instructor Carl J. Bower Jr.
