Assistant Dean of Hospitality Begins Work at Penn College

Layne E. Eggers has been named assistant dean of hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Previously, Eggers was director of sales and service, innovation and culinary excellence for Gate Gourmet International/Gate Group in Atlanta, where he led a team generating creative concepts for airline and institutional markets and earned the 2007 and 2008 President's Roll of Honor designation from the In-Flight Food Service Association.
He served as international regional manager, dining services, for Continental Airlines and taught at the University of Houston's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management, in addition to owning and operating several restaurants in Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee. He also helped develop hospitality management courses for American Public University System, Charles Town, W.Va.
"We're excited to have Layne join our leadership team in the School of Hospitality," said Fred Becker, dean of hospitality. "He comes to us with a wealth of industry knowledge and a strong understanding of technical education."
Eggers holds a Master of Science in hospitality management from the University of Houston and a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University.
As part of his duties, Eggers will oversee Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, the fine-dining learning lab in which School of Hospitality students gain hands-on experience serving the public.
