Penn College Bowling Teams Among EPCC Leaders

Penn College WIldcat Tales Through three matches, Pennsylvania College of Technology bowlers are off to a great start in their Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference season.

Flashback Bowling The Wildcats opened their campaign Nov. 3 with their blue men's teams taking a first, fourth and sixth and the women's gold team taking a first. Ryan Forry, a senior from Lancaster, led the No. 1 men's blue squad with a 701 three-game series, including a single-game high 290. For the Penn College women in that match, Evelyn Furman, a freshman from Montoursville, rolled a 583 series with a high single game of 217.

In their second outing Nov. 19, the four-man men's teams recorded a second, fourth and sixth, while the women were second. Burkhart led the No. 1 blue team with a 763 series, including a high single game of 268, but honors for the day went to freshman Ian Hickey of Middleburg on the No. 3 blue team with a near-perfect 299 game (300 is perfect). Hickey finished with a 622 series. Furman again topped the women with a 546 series.

On Dec. 2, the men's No. 1 team placed third and the men's No. 2 squad was sixth, while the women were second in the gold division. Burkhart had a 691 series to top the men and Furman led the women with a 534. The highlight of the match came for Northampton County Community College kegler Owen Darby, who rolled a perfect 300 en route to an 806 series. Both are conference highs thus far.

In the men's team standings, Northampton No. 1 is at the top with 7,693, Penn College No. 1 is second with 7,619, Lehigh Carbon Community College No. 1 is third with 7,612, Penn College No. 2 is fourth with 6,631, Johnson College No. 1 is fifth with 6,517, Northampton No. 2 is sixth with 6,079 and Penn College No. 3 is seventh with 5,574.

Among the women's teams, Lehigh Carbon is No. 1 with 4,662 and Penn College second with 3,631.

On the Horizon The college's coed bowling team is idle until Jan. 21.
