Horticulture Faculty Member Elected to Trade Association Board

Carl J. Bower Jr.Carl J. Bower Jr., a horticulture instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected to a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Board of Directors.

He has been involved in the horticulture industry since 1991 and graduated from Penn College's landscape/nursery technology program (since renamed as ornamental horticulture: landscape technology emphasis) in 1993. His industry experience encompasses a variety of jobs, including landscape design, management and plant-pest control.

Bower, who has earned the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist designation from PLNA, joined the college in 2001 as an adjunct faculty member and became a full-time instructor in 2006.

Founded in 1904, PLNA is the leading trade association representing Pennsylvania's $5.6 billion green industry. Its 750 members include production nurseries, garden centers, landscape contractors and designers, arborists, interiorscape firms, florists, and other private-sector companies.

As a director, Bower will be able to contribute to the mission of enhancing members' success through knowledge, advocacy and promotion of the horticultural industry.
