The Penn College men's soccer team advanced to the Penn State University Athletic Conference championship game for the fifth straight season with a 2-0 home win Wednesday over Penn State Beaver. In Saturday's 2 p.m. finale, the Wildcats will travel to Penn State York, which eliminated Penn State Hazleton, 4-1, on Thursday. Steven Bullock (Manheim) put Penn College on the scoreboard two minutes into Wednesday's match and Coleby Frye (York) added a goal in the final minute to seal the win as the Wildcats improved to 14-3-1 overall and 10-1-1 in the conference. "The strikers did a good job of moving up the field with the ball, and the defense was very solid," coach Enrique Castillo said. "I think we did a good job of maintaining possession. We missed a couple shots that should have been in, but their goalie did a nice job." Penn College edgedPenn State York, 2-1, for the championship in 2007 and 1-0 for the title a year ago. Penn State York is the tournament's top seed and Penn College is seeded second. York is 11-0-1 in the conference, with the tie coming Oct. 1, 3-3, against the Wildcats. "York is strong. It is well-balanced and has a good defense. It pressures the ball very well and will be tough," Castillo added.
