Graduation ceremonies were held on May 15 for the medical (office) assistant program at the North Campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Seven students completed the program, a nine-month clock-hour training that prepares students for employment in medical offices and clinics.
The students chose their instructor, Debra A. Day, as the speaker for the event. Brenda G. Abplanalp, director of North Campus outreach services, presented certificates. Day presented medical assistant pins to each graduate. A reception for graduates, their families and friends was held in the North Campus lounge following the graduation ceremony.
The medical assistant students completed 800 hours of classroom instruction followed by a 160-hour externship in physicians' offices in the Northern Tier. On Friday morning, the students sat for the American Medical Technologists exam for certification as a registered medical assistant (RMA).
The graduates are: Mandy L. Coolidge, Arnot; Lindsay M. Davis, Genesee; Lorrie A. George, Liberty; Sharmon D. Gonzalez, Covington; Karen L. Heck, Lawrenceville; Danielle M. Queen, Mansfield; and Beverly A. VanDerGrift, Galeton.
The next medical assistant class will begin in August. For more information, contact the North Campus at 570-724-7703.
