A management professor and head of the business administration department at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently was honored for his tenure on the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education Board of Commissioners.
The citation for Terry A. Girdon acknowledged his two full three-year terms on the board most recently as its chair and was presented during an awards luncheon at the IACBE annual conference in Louisville, Ky., from March 31 to April 3. The Board of Commissioners is the body responsible for setting accreditation expectations and reviewing the self-study and site-visit reports for purposes of granting accreditation.
During the conference, Girdon led a presentation/workshop on "Evaluator Training," designed to prepare selected individuals to conduct the two-day campus site visits that are an integral part of the accreditation process. In addition, he hosted a meeting of the Middle States Region of the IACBE (comprising member schools in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Puerto Rico) in his capacity as regional vice president.
The IACBE is one of three business-degree accrediting bodies for colleges and universities. Since its founding in 1997, the IACBE has grown into the premier professional accreditation body for colleges and universities, with more than 200 members in the United States and throughout the world.
All of the business and accounting degree programs at Penn College have been fully accredited by the IACBE since 1998.
Girdon holds a doctorate from Rutgers University. He received master's degrees from St. Lawrence University and Boston University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
