A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Construction and Design Technologies gave a presentation during the recent 2009 PA Home Energy Conference at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College.
Richard C. Taylor, an associate professor of HVAC technology/plumbing, heating and design, presented "Equipment Trends and Recommendation High-Efficiency Boilers, Furnaces and Geothermal" as part of the conference track devoted to trends and field quality control in heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
In his March 19 presentation, Taylor discussed new and cutting-edge heating and cooling equipment. Included were German oil-fired "blue-flame" boilers with a thermal efficiency of 89 percent, condensing natural-gas boilers and furnaces with efficiencies of 95 percent, and air-source and geothermal heat pumps with efficiencies of more than 100 percent.
Taylor, a faculty member since 1997, received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He also chairs Penn College's Energy Conservation Committee.
