The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday unanimously approved the appointment of Tom F. Gregory as the college's associate vice president for instruction.
At Penn College, Gregory has served as an instructor in the electrical technology department, director of instructional technology, a faculty development specialist, dean of construction and design technologies, and (most recently) interim associate vice president for instruction.
He was co-chair of the Penn College 2002 Middle States Accreditation Self-Study and the Middle States Periodic Review Report in 2007. He also served as a Middle States Evaluation Team member for several colleges in their accreditation processes.
"Tom has been a strong asset to Academic Affairs in his interim role, providing outstanding guidance in curriculum and faculty development and expanding opportunity for international study," said Lizabeth S. Mullens, vice president for academic affairs/provost. "His strengths in instruction and program development will facilitate continued excellence in learning for the Penn College community."
After graduation from Elmira College, where he studied mathematics and physics, Gregory spent nearly 20 years working as an engineer in various industries including Westinghouse (imaging devices, night vision and defense electronics), Anchor/Darling Co. (quality assurance and project management for nuclear power plant components) and Litton Electron Devices (design engineering for microwave defense applications).
He holds a patent for a device used for missile-guidance components and was involved in new-product development for magnetron (mostly military) applications.
