Penn College's Sigma Nu Colony to Sponsor Spring Car Show May 2

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Colony of Sigma Nu Fraternity will sponsor a spring car show from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, on the college's main campus in Williamsport.

The event will be held in the parking lot of the Carl Building Technologies Center; directional signs will route participants from the college's Maynard Street entrance.

Students, faculty and staff, and the general public all are invited to show their vehicles. The cost is $10 for early registration at the colony's Web site and $15 after April 30 (including on-site registration the day of the show). All proceeds will go to the Sigma Nu Leadership Initiatives Fund, which sponsors campus events that help all students develop character, interpersonal skills and leadership. Admission for spectators is free.

"I am proud of the men of Sigma Nu reaching out to the public in such a well-planned event," said Erin M. Datteri, assistant director for Greek life and leadership in the Student Activities Office. "I hope people from the campus and community will come support one of our newest fraternities and show off their old and new vehicles. It's building up to be a fantastic event!"

Check-in will be from 10 a.m. to noon; awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. in 19 classes: sport compact (foreign), sport compact (domestic), truck (full size), truck (mini), dirtiest vehicle, motorcycle (sport), motorcycle (cruiser), hot rod, pre-World War II, 1950-60, 1961-70, 1971-80, 1981-90, 1991-99, 2000-present, Mustang, Corvette, Camaro and Jeep.

The event will be held rain or shine. There will be music and giveaways, and food vendors will be on hand.
