College to Host Workshop for Pediatric Occupational Therapists

The School of Health Sciences and Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology are sponsoring the four-day workshop "Sensory Integration for Pediatric Occupational Therapists" at the college in May.

The May 28-31 workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day (8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the final day) in Penn's Inn at the Bush Campus Center on Penn College's main campus in Williamsport. The $850 cost for the workshop includes lunch each day.

The presenter, Jeannetta D. Burpee, is a private-practice consultant, instructor and treating therapist who also is employed at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, N.Y.

An internationally respected lecturer, Burpee is a clinician for those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental and learning disorders.

The intensive, comprehensive workshop combines lecture, workshop, clinical problem-solving, discussion and video demonstration to address sensory integrative dysfunction in those with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders and other developmental and learning disorders.

Participants will be awarded contact hours for continuing education. The American Occupational Therapy Association Inc. will award 27.5 contact hours (or 2.75 AOTA CEUs).
