Madigan Library Forum to Put Participants at 'Scene of the Crime'

Forensic science, a theme that runs through a number of popular television shows, will be "Exhibit A" in a public forum to be held in November on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus in Williamsport.
"Fingerprints and Blood Spatter: Using Science to Solve Crimes," the latest in a series of informative presentations, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in Room 200 of The Madigan Library.
Participants will join Kelly B. Butzler, department head for natural sciences and an assistant professor of chemistry in Penn College's School of Integrated Studies, in a hands-on analysis of their own fingerprints. Attendees also will view and discuss a video of a real crime that was solved by blood-spatter interpretation.
Two of Butzler's more popular credit courses Introduction to Forensic Science and Introduction to Forensic Science Laboratory teach many of the fascinating aspects of forensic science. Both courses can be taken on campus, as well as in a distance-learning setting.
The event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served.
