Wednesday's Bloodmobile visit, part of the American Red Cross' "No Bones About It!" campaign, was the most successful in Penn College history. Caring faculty, staff and students showed the true giving nature of those on campus, said Carl L. Shaner, student health services director. A life-saving total of 185 pints of blood was collected exceeding the day's goal of 170 and certainly helping to alleviate low blood supplies throughout the region. According to Red Cross officials, college drives are one of the biggest reasons for success of Blood Services in Lycoming County during the year. With this visit from the Red Cross' 555 area residents will benefit from our gift of blood. Shaner said 212 people registered, along with numerous first-time donors. The Red Cross and Student Health Services thank all students, staff and faculty who participated as a donor or volunteer; special thanks to Food Services for providing pizzas. The winner for the Sheetz gift card was Amanda Linn; Keith Saboski is the winner of a pair of tickets for the "Tales of Terror" at the Community Arts Center on Friday, Nov. 7. The next college Bloodmobile will be Jan. 21 on main campus. (Photographs by Jessica L. Tobias, student photographer)
