Tuesday, October 14, 2008
From Oct. 6-9, Volvo held its Northeast Master Cup Technician Competition at Penn College's Schneebeli Earth Science Center. Twenty-one technicians in teams of three represented area Volvo dealers from Rudd, Penn Jersey and Highway Equipment. According to David R. Loveland, training manager for Volvo Construction Equipment North America Inc. and a member of the college's Heavy Construction Equipment Technology/Technician Advisory Committee, the competition involved troubleshooting practical faults in five pieces of Volvo heavy construction equipment. The winning team from Rudd will represent the Northeast in the North American finals in Asheville, N.C., with the possibility of competing in the World Cup in Sweden. Highway Equipment generously loaned the equipment used during the competition (a wheel loader, articulated hauler, crawler excavator, motor grader and compact excavator) to the ESC for a few days of use by students in the School of Natural Resources Management.
