Management Professor Leads Workshop at Conference in Spain

GirdonA professor of business administration/management and head of the business administration department at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently attended the 2008 Biannual International Conference of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education in Barcelona, Spain.

At the Sept. 23-25 conference, Terry A. Girdon led a presentation/workshop for prospective international members on how to develop a self-study report and prepare for an accreditation visit.

Girdon is serving his third term as chair of the IACBE Board of Commissioners, the body responsible for setting accreditation expectations and reviewing the self-study and site-visit reports for purposes of granting accreditation.

The IACBE is one of three business degree-accrediting bodies for colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world. It has 240 member institutions and is the fastest-growing business-accrediting body in the world, with branch locations in Paris; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Mangilao, Guam.

All of the business and accounting degree programs at Penn College have been fully accredited by the IACBE since 1998.

Following the conference, Girdon remained in Barcelona to conduct a follow-up accreditation site visit to La Salle University.

A former dean of the School of Business and Computer Technologies, Girdon holds a doctorate from Rutgers University. He also earned master's degrees from St. Lawrence and Boston universities and a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
