'My Last Words' Series to Continue in Tribute to Late Professor
Wednesday, October 8, 2008
If given one last chance to speak to students, what would you say? What is something about which you are passionate, something that is dear to you, something so important that you just have to share it with your community?
For the fourth year, the Student Activities Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will help answer those questions in its successful series, "My Last Words," which has been renamed in honor of the late David A. London. An associate professor of speech communication/composition and a former chair of College Council, London died May 3.
"The David London My Last Words" presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. The presenter will be Sandra Lakey, associate professor of speech communication/composition and one of London's closest friends and colleagues.
Each semester, the Student Activities Office asks students to nominate a faculty member to deliver a "final" message. London was nominated by more than one student to speak; because he died before he could fulfill his legacy, Lakey will lend her voice on his behalf. The presentation focuses on four "last words": learn, live, love and laugh ideas that London and many of his friends believe are important to living a full and satisfying life.
The entire Penn College community and the public are invited to attend the event and help honor London and his extraordinary commitment to the institution. A reception will follow.
