'Clothesline Project' Calls Attention to Violence Against Women

Monday, September 22, 2008

T-shirts bear witness to domestic violence This week (Sept. 22-29), Penn College participates in "The Clothesline Project Bearing Witness to Violence Against Women." This is a campuswide anti-violence campaign sponsored by the Madigan Library and Student Health Services. Come to the library and CC lobby to see T-shirts with messages and declarations of hope and survival. Health Services also will be displaying Silhouettes and Stories campuswide; these are life-size cutouts capturing personal accounts and examples of hazing and bullying. To create a T-shirt with your own message to be hung for The Clothesline Project, call Kristi Hammaker (ext. 7621) or stop by the library to speak to Nicole Staron (ext. 7016) or Patty Bilbay (ext. 7872). For more information, visit the library Web site or the Clothesline Project online. ( Photo by student worker Michael K. Layton, library technical services)
