North Campus to Offer Computer Courses for Adults

For those who need to prepare for a career change or just update their computer skills, Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will offer several easy-to-master computer courses this fall.

The courses are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners. The small, noncredit classes are held from 6 to 9 p.m. in a relaxed classroom environment allowing students to learn, experiment and ask questions throughout the evening.

Introduction to Personal Computing will help those new to computers become more comfortable with computers and master basic skills such as creating, saving, editing and retrieving files. This class will be held on Tuesdays, Sept. 23 and 30.

Introduction to Windows XP will assist new to intermediate computer users in managing the desktop, folders and directories. It is recommended that computer users take this class after Introduction to Personal Computing. This class will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 2 and 9.

Basic Microsoft Word 2007 will help the computer user master the essentials of word processing and create, save, format, edit and print documents. This class will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 16 and 23. Intermediate Word 2007 will follow in November.

Basic Microsoft Excel 2007 is helpful for those wanting to learn to create worksheets and manage data with functions and formulas. This class will be held on Tuesdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. Intermediate Excel will follow in the spring.

Microsoft Access 2007 is a database class that is helpful for learning to build and use queries, forms and reports. Basic Access will be held Tuesdays, Nov. 11 and 18. Intermediate Access will be held Thursdays, Dec. 4 and 11.

Introduction to QuickBooks will be offered on Tuesdays, Oct. 7-21. QuickBooks is the No. 1 accounting software for individuals and businesses needing a bookkeeping method. Topics include how to create and track accounts, generate invoices and process payments.

In the advanced class, you will learn how to create reports, maximize the efficiency of forms, use business services, improve handling of sales taxes, explore job estimating and learn tips and tricks for more flexible navigation within QuickBooks Pro. Advanced QuickBooks will be offered on Tuesdays, Dec. 2 -16.
