The Village Apartments staff team - 3.63 GPA The Campus View Apartments staff team - 3.5 GPA The Rose Street Apartments staff team - 3.4 GPA The College West Apartments staff team - 3.3 GPAThe Office of Residence Life is pleased to introduce its 2008-09 staff team. The paraprofessionals hired (Senior Resident Assistants and Resident Assistants) go through a rigorous selection and training process. Each is required to have and maintain a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.

Both Senior Resident Assistants and Resident Assistants are student staff members who help facilitate positive learning communities in the residence halls. Every residence hall floor has at least one RA (each residential complex has one SRA) who is available to serve as a resource for residents, to offer individual assistance, and to promote community development by interacting individually with students and encouraging group interactions.

SRAs and RAs help to maintain a positive community by explaining community standards and assisting residents in meeting those standards, as well as encouraging the creation of an environment that promotes academic success. As leaders and role models on their floors, SRAs and RAs have the opportunity for an extremely rewarding personal experience.

Both Senior Resident Assistants and Resident Assistants are expected to:

  • Demonstrate positive leadership in the residence halls and the Penn College campus community

  • Assess and respond to the needs of residents

  • Promote the growth and development of residents and facilitate their academic success and connection to the residence hall and campus community

  • Develop and maintain a hall environment that is conducive to student learning

  • Ensure adherence to community standards that will maximize residents' academic and personal success

  • Work collaboratively with staff and leaders in the complex and with other staff members in the Office of Residence Life

  • Attend to administrative responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for personal learning and development in the SRA and RA roles
