Campus Activities Effectively Raise Alcohol Awareness

Shaner, director of Penn College's student health center, and a student survey damage from 'drunken' driving Alcohol Awareness Week events on campus are driving home the staggering consequences of impairment. "True Stories: After the Crash," held Tuesday night in the SASC, offered personal accounts of alcohol's life-altering effects, a message that was reinforced duringWednesday's Awareness Fair on the PDC lawn. Students donned vision-impairing "drunk goggles" to test their walking and driving abilities, and information was available from campus and social-service offices to help students make healthy decisions. WBRE was on hand and, with its Northeast PA News Alliance partners,aired a story in Wednesday's evening newscast. Other events included a mock crash in the Field House parking area and a nonalcoholic "Game Night" in the PDC Mountain Laurel Room.
