Rain-Thinned Crowd Sees Plenty of Baseball on 'Pack the Park Night'

A pregame drizzle kept attendance to 1,379 for Penn College's "Pack the Park Night," but those who ventured to Bowman Field watched as the skies cleared ... and saw better than three hours' worth of baseball, a 29-hit marathon than ended with the Williamsport Crosscutters on the wrong side of an 11-7 tally against Batavia. Thursday's fans, part of "College Town Week" for students and employees of Penn College, Lycoming College and Newport Business Institute, heard a rendition of the national anthem by James E. Allshouse, a welding and fabrication engineering technology major from Indiana, and enjoyed a night full of fun, food, games and giveaways.
