Students Return to Little League to Assist With World Series

Sixty Pennsylvania College of Technology students have joined other area medical staff to help with the Little League Baseball World Series through Aug. 24.

Students enrolled in the emergency medical services and physician assistant programs at Penn College are volunteering throughout the series. Emergency medical services students are serving alongside paramedics from Susquehanna Regional Emergency Medical Services in order to respond to emergencies among the thousands of fans attending the international event.



Physician assistant students accompanied by licensed physician assistant faculty are posted around-the-clock in the infirmary, inside the Little League complex's International Grove, where teams stay during the series. The students provide urgent care for players, coaches and their hosts. During recent series, Penn College representatives posted in the infirmary have diagnosed cases of chicken pox - for which students made calls to parents worldwide - and measles among Little League players.

For students, the event provides a unique opportunity to participate in community health care during an international event, as well as practical hands-on experience.
