Staff/Faculty Defeat Students in 14-13 Softball Slugfest

Lisa Worth, athletic assistant, provided this game recap: The student team scored six runs in the first inning and three runs in the third to take a 9-4 lead. In the top of the fourth inning, the bats for the staff/faculty team came alive with six runs on six consecutive hits by Jeremy Bottorf, Mike Paulhamus, Benaiah Tucci, Joe Miller, Joe Simon and Andrew Gutkowski. The staff/faculty team scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The student team rallied for one run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth. Students had one more chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, but they went down in order and lost 14-13. Other members of the staff/faculty team were Alison Tagliaferri, Mike Hersh, Katie Greene, Craig Flint and Anthony Sofranek. Student team members were Dereck Smith, Reed Bogosh, Chad Mountcastle, Robert Capella, George King, Joe Caulfield, Nick Bechtel, Pete Rogan, Kat Potocek, Andrew Moore, Angela Charcas and Matthew Weiser.
