David S. Richards, associate professor of physics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers.
Abul Hasan, president of the Central Pennsylvania Section and associate professor of physics at Penn State York, presented the award to Richards on April 5 during the organization's annual conference. The event was hosted by Lock Haven University.
Richards served as president of CPS-AAPT in 2006 and as vice president in 2005. He just completed his term as immediate past president. As vice president, he organized the group's 2006 conference, held at Penn College.
Richards has taught at Penn College since 1995 and was honored with an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007.
He earned a master of science degree from the University of Alabama and a bachelor of science degree from Mary Washington College. He is pursuing a doctorate from The Pennsylvania State University.
