2008-09 Senior Resident Assistants Named

Individuals selected to be Senior Resident Assistants possess strong leadership skills, as well as a commitment to student life at Penn College and the Office of Residence Life. This year's selection process was quite competitive, resulting in the four individuals named below emerging to the top of the list.

A person serving as an SRA must possess qualities essential to the fostering of individual and community development for residence hall students:



  • Demonstrating emotional maturity necessary to cope with day-to-day decisions involved in maintaining healthy living conditions within the building

  • Having a sensitivity and concern for others as individuals, as well as a personal and professional commitment that goes beyond outlined responsibilities

  • Having a working knowledge of all aspects of Penn College to appropriately assist, advise and serve as a liaison between students and other members of the Penn College community .

  • Having demonstrated a commitment to the residence life position through prior successful staff involvement.


Julianne GregaJulianne Grega
"I am Julianne Grega, a physician assistant major from Weatherly, a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. I am a second-year PA student going into my third year in the professional phase. My first year as an RA was in College West, and, next year, I'm going to be in Campus View as the SRA. In my free time, I like to put together scrapbooks, not only for myself, but for others, as well."

Jason KovachJason Kovach
Senior next year in information technology: web and applications development from Altoona. "I really enjoy video games and sports."

Zachary ZukauckasZachary Zukauckas
Major: Residential construction management. Interested in riding ATVs, mountain biking and soccer. "As of the 2008-09 year, I will have completed two years at Penn College with an associate degree in residential construction management while working on a bachelor's in the same program and an additional associate degree in masonry."

 

John PhillippyJohn Phillippy
"My name is John Phillippy, but I am usually referred to by my friends as 'JC.' I am currently enrolled in the information technology:security specialist program and plan to graduate withtwo bachelor's degrees in the Spring 2009. When not in class, I am actively involved in some student organizations including the Residence Hall Association, Student Government Association and Wildcat Events Board, and I am the Senior Resident Assistant for Rose Street Apartments. When not at the college, I am also a volunteer EMT/Vehicle Rescue Technician for Rescue Hose Co. #1 in my hometown of Greencastle, PA." "JC" is a returning for his second year as an SRA.
