Cross-country runners Greg Kammerle of Willow Grove , a graduate of Upper Moreland High School , and Tamara Pavlov of Lewisburg, a graduate of Lewisburg Area High School , have been named Pennsylvania College of Technology "Co-Student-Athletes of the Week" for Oct. 15-21.
Kammerle, a sophomore building construction student, completed his Penn College career Saturday by becoming the college's first two-time Penn State University Athletic Conference individual champion. He won the 4.9-mile race in 27 minutes, 16 seconds. During his two-year career, he won 10 of the 16 races in which he competed, and set numerous course records, including at NCAA Division III Albright College .
"He's been the class act out of our league for the past two seasons," said Mike Paulhamus, coach of the Wildcats. "He's given me everything that I've wanted out of a No. 1 runner. "¦ It's a great way to close out his career."
Pavlov, a freshman business management student, won the PSUAC women's individual title Saturday, posting an 18:53 over the 3.1-mile distance. Pavlov finished in the top 10 in all eight races she entered this season and won five of the events.
"Tamara came in and she was the class of the league. She is the best woman runner that I have had in my eight years here. She fit right in and has been gung-ho. There is a lot of potential in this young lady," Paulhamus said.
