The $5,000 grant, made through the Sovereign Bank Foundation, will support new collections in business and finance and career development. Both collections will be available to Penn College students and the general public during regular library hours.

Lisette N. Ormsbee, director of the library, said the business and finance collection will include books and periodicals related to business plans, small business, women in business, personal finance and business etiquette. The career-development collection will include information on vocations and careers, preparing resumes, job-hunting and taking Civil Service tests.

Both collections, Ormsbee said, will be important resources for students in finding stable and high-wage employment.

"The generosity of Sovereign Bank will enable staff and librarians of the Madigan Library to better serve the 21st century career and business needs of the Penn College community," she said. "These collections will help students and other researchers become more competitive in the global economy and technology-driven workplace."

"We are so pleased to offer funding that supports The Madigan Library," said Paul H. Rooney, senior vice president/regional president for Sovereign Bank. "This donation is further evidence of Sovereign Bank's continued commitment to education and to Pennsylvania College of Technology."
