Information Technology Services is pleased to introduce a new information resource for Penn College employees, an employee-only Web portal titled myPCT. The impetus behind myPCT was to provide college employees with one-stop access to the campus information resources they use every day.
Initially, myPCT will provide access to:
- employee-specific news and announcements
- department intranet sites with internal information, including all the department files that currently reside on W:publicdocs
- the Employee Information System
- College Policies and Procedures
- a powerful search engine that makes all of the portal information easy to find
The portal also provides a suite of tools that will enhance the ability of departments, workgroups, committees and teams to communicate and collaborate together on projects.
For more information about the features, history and future of the portal, visit the information pages under About myPCT on the portal home page.
With the introduction of the myPCT portal, the college process for issuing general announcements that are applicable only to employees will change. Details about this change will be sent in another e-mail Monday. You also will receive, through inter-office mail, guidelines to help you choose the appropriate medium (PCToday, myPCT announcement or e-mail) for disseminating news and information.
The myPCT portal will officially go "live" on Tuesday, June 12. That morning, all employee Web browser home pages will be set to the portal address. Also as of June 12, W:publicdocs no longer will be available.
While ITS still is working on a few last-minute details, employees are encouraged to take a "sneak peek" at http://mypct.pct.edu. The myPCT portal can be accessed from off campus through a secure connection, https://myPCT.pct.edu.
Employees who would like to see an overview of myPCT are invited to attend one of the following open sessions in the SASC Presentation room:
- Wednesday, June 13, 1-2 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 19, 1.-2 p.m.
- Friday, June 22, 11 a.m.-noon
Also, watch for a series of professional-development sessions that will provide more in-depth training on specific features and capabilities, such as team collaboration tools and My Site development tools for blogging and creating a personal home page.
