Controlled Burn Serves Dual Purpose for ESC Students

Wildlife management students conduct controlled burn Whipping winds fan grassland flames Wildlife Management students conducted their yearly controlled burn on state game lands near Penn College's Earth Science Center on Tuesday, killing invasive plants in designated areas and thanks to the day's breezy conditions gaining hands-on experience in the spread and subsequent control of wildfires. The annual exercise, designed to improve wildlife habitat, is conducted with the assistance of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
